Your Guide To The Queen's Baton Relay In Newcastle

The Queen's Baton will be arriving in Newcastle via tug boat tomorrow morning, as part of it's relay across the country ahead of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April.

Former Newcastle Citizen of the Year, Sister Diana Santleben will be onboard as the first baton bearer when the boat docks at Lee Wharf in Honeysuckle at 7:22am.

After a ceremony at Lee Wharf, it will then be passed on to 24 other local legends including Kurt Fearnley and Alex McKinnon, before making its way along Honeysuckle Drive, Shortland Esplanade and Memorial Drive to finish at Bar Beach.

Those roads will be closed from 7:30am until 9:15am.
