A vandal has caused major dramas for emergency crews trying to extinguish a car fire in Tingira Heights.
Firefighters were forced to call police after allegedly finding a man spray painting the roof of the vehicle in bushland near Croudace Road at 4pm yesterday.
It's claimed the man refused to come down, before attempting to spray officers who tried to pull him to safety.
He was eventually capsicum sprayed and arrested, allowing fire crews to properly douse the flames.
A 20-year-old has been charged with several offences and refused bail ahead of facing Newcastle Local Court today.
