Smoky Scenes Across The Hunter

Firefighters are hard at work.

Smoky Scenes Across The Hunter

There's a fair bit of smoke drifting along the Hunter coastline this afternoon thanks to a fire burning at Dora Creek.

Firefighters are receiving help from a water-bombing aircraft to help contain 10 hectares which is burning near Gradwells Road on the western side of Lake Macquarie.

While ground crews are also conducting property protection in the area.

Meantime some good news for firefighters battling a blaze in remote bushland in Main Creek north of Dungog.

The fire has been downgraded to the Advice level after it was originally upgraded to Watch and Act level.

It's currently between 20 and 30 hectares and broke out over the weekend following lightning strikes.

Firefighters will keep a close eye on a number of isolated rural properties in the area and continue to build on containment lines.
