A Cessnock man's been arrested by Sex Crimes Squad detectives following an undercover sting.
Officers began engaging online with the 37 year old in November, posing as a 14 year old boy.
The man's accused of having sexually-explicit conversations, sending indecent and pornographic images and trying to arrange a meeting with the boy.
He was arrested at his Cessnock home just after midday Friday.
Detectives seized a mobile phone and laptop computer.
The accused was taken to Cessnock Police Station and charged with use carriage service to groom a person under 16 years for sexual activity, and using a carriage service to transmit indecent material to a person under 16 years of age (x3).
He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
