There's been a fatal accident at Brandy Hill near Raymond Terrace this morning.
A Holden Commodore and Toyota Landcruiser collided at the intersection of Brandy Hill Drive and Clarence Town Road just after 6:00am.
A male driver of the Commodore, believed to be aged 28, died at the scene.
A second driver has been taken to Maitland Hospital suffering minor injuries.
It's the 16th death on the Hunter's roads so far in 2017, almost double the number from the same time last year.
Meantime, a 20 year old man is in a serious but stable condition in the John Hunter after crashing his car into a pole on the Pacific Highway at Jewells.
Southbound lanes were closed for about two hours.
