Port Stephens Firefighter Accused Of Making Fake Triple Zero Calls

A Port Stephens firefighter has been charged with making fake calls to emergency services.

The probationary member of the Rural Fire Service was arrested as part of a Port Stephens police strike force to investigate hoax calls.

It's alleged the 20-year-old made over 40 calls from payphones and a mobile phone to report made-up bush fires and car accidents

He was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station on Monday and charged with a range of offences including three counts of making false calls to an emergency services number, eleven counts of making vexatious calls to an emergency services number and one count of indecent assault.

He's been granted conditional bail and will appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court in October.
