Plans have finally been unveiled today for the long awaited Knights Centre of Excellence.
The facility will be built next to the southern grandstand at McDonald Jones Stadium, featuring three new training fields and a dedicated warm up area.
Knights owners the Wests Group and the state government are both pitching in $10 million dollars for the project.
"The new Centre of Excellence will be the first high-performance rugby league training facility between Sydney and the Gold Coast and for the first time ever players will have a pre-game warm up area,” Sports Minister Stuart Ayres said.
It will also act as the new headquarters for the Knights.
“With playing fields proposed for nearby District Park land, this will enable the Knights to bring their entire operations into one facility, reducing costs, improving integration outcomes and providing an additional venue for local and regional community needs,” Knights CEO Phil Gardner said.
