Old Courthouse To Become Japanese Uni Campus

Old Courthouse To Become Japanese Uni Campus

A Japanese university has emerged as the mystery buyer of the old Newcastle courthouse.

The Newcastle Herald reports Nihon University bought the heritage listed building for $6.6 million and plans to turn it into a campus.

It's set to include classrooms for up to 200 local and international students, a library and 100-bed dormitory.

The university says it chose Newcastle because of its "splendid environment" and low crime rate.
