The Premier will visit Newcastle today.
Gladys Berejiklian will speak to business leaders at a meeting at midday about the state budget and how the Hunter is set to benefit.
There's no doubt questions will be asked about some of the disruptions in the city's CBD thanks to the light rail and supercars developments.
Newcastle MP Tim Crakanthorp says it's important the Premier speaks to business owners who have been struggling since work in the city centre began.
"She should be speaking to the Hunter Street business owners who really are deeply concerned about not only the construction but the parking that'll be lost - up to a thousand in the CBD."
While Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes is hoping to hear whether the light rail project will end up expanding to the rest of the city.
"My focus is on getting a fully integrated light rail network throughout the whole city, connecting to the John Hunter Hospital, to the Glendale Interchange, Hunter Stadium and through to Mayfield and to the university and out to the airport."
" I really want to make sure that hasn't fallen off the government's radar."
