Newcastle Airport has fared well in a new survey looking at the experience of passengers, topping every major airport in Australia and New Zealand.
The Airport Service Quality survey examined check-in wait times, efficiency and helpfulness of staff with the likes of Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.
Customer satisfaction with manoeuvring through the terminal, flight information screens and walking distance was also ranked highest at the airport.
“These are exciting times for Newcastle Airport. We’re actively working towards providing our region an airport it deserves," said CEO Peter Cock.
Last year a record 1.2 million passengers flew in or out of the Williamtown airport – a 5.5% increase on 2015.
The following major airports were involved in the survey:
Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport
Cairns International Airport
Gold Coast Airport
Auckland International Airport
Christchurch International Airport
