We now know what will be built on a prime piece of real estate in Honeysuckle.
It's been revealed the vacant block of land next to the Hunter Water building will be home to a new 4-star hotel.
It'll feature 149 rooms, 62 residential apartments and 5 serviced apartments, along with commercial and restaurant space.
“This project means much-needed new hotel accommodation in the city centre and around 60 ongoing jobs to run it,” Hunter Development Corporation CEO Michael Cassel said
“It also means 62 new homes in the city centre, helping to sustain a vibrant economy.
“Newcastle’s revitalisation has been gathering momentum for quite some time and this project is further proof of a city really maturing into a diverse, attractive place,” Mr Cassel said.
Parking at the hotel could be made available to the public, which would help ease the area's parking shortage.
Construction is set to begin in mid-2018.
