A man's blown more than five times the legal limit, after crashing his Mercedes Benz in Belmont.
The 29 year old's accused of reversing into a parked ute while leaving a hotel carpark on Saturday night.
The publican witnessed the crash and tried to stop the driver, however he took off without providing his details.
Police stopped him a short time later on the Pacific Highway.
"Officers approached (the driver) and could smell the strong smell of alcohol. He was slurring his words and his movements were extremely poor as he took approximately 10 attempts to remove his wallet from his pocket," police said in a statement.
He was arrested after refusing to provide a breath test.
Officers took him to Belmont Police Station where he eventually blew 0.268.
He was charged with high range drink driving, refusing a roadside breath test and leaving the scene of an accident.
His licence was suspended on the spot. He'll face Belmont Local Court on April 17.
