A man's blown high-range after allegedly being found asleep at the wheel of his car at Muswellbrook.
Highway Patrol received reports of a car swerving from side to side and crossing to the wrong side of the road on Thursday night.
A short time later officers found a Ford Ranger ute on Denman Road, with a 62 year old man allegedly asleep in the driver's seat with the engine running.
After giving a positive roadside breath test, he was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station where he blew 0.285.
His licence was suspended on the spot. He'll face Muswellbrook Local Court on December 18 charged with high-range drink driving.
Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy said poor decisions are costing lives on NSW roads.
"Anyone who chooses to drink and drive is making a selfish and stupid decision, and putting innocent people at risk."
“Drink-driving is a contributing factor in one out of five fatal crashes in NSW."
“We have already lost 351 lives on NSW roads this year, and it is nothing short of a tragedy that many of the lives lost were innocent passengers or other road users."
