One of the world's largest cruise ships will be paying Newcastle a visit...twice.
Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas will make two calls to the city in February 2019, bringing 3,900 passengers.
She'll be the largest cruise ship to ever visit Newcastle.
It's being made possible by new mooring bollards which are currently being built at Carrington, allowing larger, heavier cruise ships to dock.
They'll be completed by mid-next year.
Construction will begin early next year on the new $13.5 million cruise terminal.
The Port of Newcastle says the terminal will be finished in time for the Explorer of the Seas' arrival.
The Explorer of the Seas entered service in 2000, and at the time was the biggest cruise ship in the world measuring 311m in length.
It's currently ranked 25th in the world in terms of size.
