Highway Re-Opens, Driver Charged After Singleton Carnage

Police have now charged the driver who allegedly caused yesterday's carnage in Singleton.

The 29 year old will face Singleton Local Court today charged with ten offences, including two counts of police pursuit (Skye's Law).

He allegedly crashed a stolen truck into several vehicles and buildings in George Street, including the historic Royal Hotel, leaving a trail of destruction.

Eight people were injured. The most serious is a 67 year old man who remains in a critical but stable condition in John Hunter Hospital.

The New England Highway has now re-opened between Ravensworth and Whittingham, however there's a 40 km/h speed zone past the crash site.
