A man is facing big fines after 30 tonnes of garbage was found dumped in the Hunter Economic Zone.
The 46-year-old from Thornton was tracked down by investigators from the illegal dumping squad after a huge mix of building and demolition waste was left inside the HEZ in Kurri Kurri back in February.
He's set to cop a substantial fine and will also have to pay the clean-up costs.
RID Squad Coordinator Rob Robertson says if you dump your garbage illegally you will be caught.
“This is an example of a very positive outcome achieved through good communication by a number of involved agencies, both public and private, together with dedicated, highly experienced investigators who are targeted specifically on illegal dumping matters,” Mr Robertson said.
