Heartless thieves have stolen the iconic bell from Teralba Public School.
The 120-year-old icon usually stands proudly in the middle of the playground however it's vanished between late Monday and early yesterday morning, with the school's principal only discovering the theft on ANZAC Day.
There's fears thieves are planning to melt the 60kg bell down to sell as scrap metal.
Stacy Matthews from the local P&C group is pleading for its safe return.
"It used to be the school bell. It means a lot to us and the rest of the community."
