Police have charged the alleged driver of a car involved in a fatal crash north of Bulahdelah earlier this month.
It's claimed a car was travelling on Wooton Way on October 15 before leaving the road and colliding with a tree, killing a 37-year-old passenger.
Detectives say the driver then fled the scene before emergency crews arrived.
A 39-year-old was arrested yesterday during a routine traffic stop on the Esplanade at Warners Bay.
He's since been charged with a number of offences including negligent driving occasioning death and was refused bail ahead of facing Newcastle Court today.
