A man's been charged over a high speed pursuit in a stolen car in Wallsend.
Police gave chase after the unlicensed driver was allegedly clocked doing 112km/h in a 70km/h zone in Thomas Street at around 11am on Tuesday.
Checks revealed the hatchback had been reported stolen and was spotted driving dangerously.
Police chased the car along Thomas Street and Minmi Road, then north along Cameron Street, before losing sight as it traveled towards Birmingham Gardens.
The vehicle was later found in Davis Avenue, Wallsend, with the 23 year old driver arrested after a short foot pursuit in Mordue Parade, Jesmond.
The Belmont man will face Newcastle Local Court today on several traffic offences.
