Heartless thieves have stolen a safe from the Newy Burger Co restaurant in Maitland, which contained two months worth of donations for a little boy battling Leukemia.
The break-in occured sometime between Tuesday night and Thursday morning, with owner Ben Neil saying police have had no luck tracking down the offenders.
"Police have done all of their forensic work, but it doesn't look like there's much to go off," he said.
"They wore gloves and were pretty much in and out and didn't leave too much of a trace."
The total amount inside the safe was well into the thousands, some of it store earnings but most of it money raised for four-year-old Kane Ransom.
Ben isn't too concerned about the earnings, but wants the charity money returned.
He had this message for the crooks:
"At the very least just hand back the charity money - stealing from a little boy is pretty low."
Anyone who may have information should contact Hunter Valley Police.
