American fast food chain Carl's Jr has set its sights on the Hunter.
A development application has been lodged with Lake Macquarie City Council this week to open a store at Stockland Glendale.
The proposal is to build in the northern part of the shopping centre car park, adjacent to Stockland Drive.
The hamburger franchise had originally hoped to build a store at Wallsend two years ago, however there were issues with the Roads and Maritime Service.
Carl's Jr has received criticism in the past for it's racy advertising campaigns featuring scantily clad models.
However it recently announced it was dumping the ads and focusing on "burgers, not boobs".
There are currently three Carl's Jr stores operating in Australia - Bateau Bay on the Central Coast, Brisbane Airport and at Mount Barker in South Australia.
It operates in more than 30 countries around the world.
