Police have dismantled a major hydroponic drug operation here in the Hunter, seizing hundreds of cannabis plants.
Officers from the Port Stephens/Hunter Command executed search warrants on six homes in Raworth, Tenambit, Heddon Greta, Aberglasslyn and Chisholm.
The hydroponic set-ups in each "grow house" were highly sophisticated, featuring fake walls, watering systems, heat lamps and power transformers.
Three men and a woman, all Vietnamese nationals are in custody.
Detectives said the houses were disguised to blend in, one having a baby walker in the garage and fairy lights rigged up outside.
District Commander, Superintendent Craig Jackson has urged the public to be on the lookout for drug operations here in the Hunter.
"There are tell-tale signs to look out for," he said.
"Hydro houses can give off a pungent odour, activity at the properties tend to be very low key, and windows are often always shut or boarded up.”
