A man’s accused of threatening staff at a Belmont pharmacy armed with a blood-filled syringe during a terrifying robbery.
The 38-year-old entered the shop on Singleton Street at around 3:45pm Saturday.
It’s claimed he stole medication after threatening a staff member with the syringe.
Thankfully, no one was injured.
Police arrested the man a short time later, after he was found hiding in the yard of a home in nearby May Street.
The medication was discovered in Church Street.
He’ll face Newcastle Local Court today, charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
