The US Election came out on top, 10 billion interactions generated worldwide.
Aussie Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull was second, for the second year running. During the election campaign, 3.7 million Australians had 32 million election-related interactions.
Shark attacks was the third most talked about topic. Coast to coast there were many attacks this year and debate on what to do about it. It's the first time this topic has made the list.
Also getting an honourable mention, the late David Bowie, generating 100 million likes, shares and comments just 12 hours after his death, and Pokemon Go with absolutely dominated the world when it was released mid-way through the year.
