Might be time to start grabbing takeaway coffees for your morning caffeine hit after researchers have found 20% of office mugs contain traces of human feces.
University of Arizona Environmental Microbiology Professor Charles Gerba Ph.D made the stomach-turning discovery in a new study which also found 90% of office mugs carried dangerous germs, The Mirror reports.
As for how such a workplace disaster could actually take place?
Well, Prof Gerba says it comes down how mugs are typically washed up – in a communal kitchen with sponges carrying an entire mixed bag of germs.
Best bet is to run your mug through a very hot dishwasher – or skip out on the instant coffee from now on.
