NRL Won't Ban Same-Sex Marriage Banners From The Grand Final

Despite reports from News Corp that 'yes' and 'no' vote flag would be banned from today's rugby league grand final, a spokesperson from the NRL has said that flags are allowed, as long as they do not exceed the size requirement of 1.4m.

Further, flags admitted to the stadium are not to contain any swear words.

Bag checks will be undertaken at the gates, and banners will be checked at the entrance to the stadium.

This follows some controversy in the lead up to the 'big dance', with former PM Tony Abbott objecting to the performance of Macklemore and his pro same-sex marriage song 'Same Love'.
