Yet another citizenship issue has arisen, with crossbench senator Derryn Hinch the latest to have a question raised over his status.
A US social security number has been produced which appears to indicate that Hinch still holds a social security card from his time in New York in the 1960s and 70s.
Senator Hinch has referred himself to the High Court in light of these allegations, as s44 of the constitution prohibits anyone from sitting in parliament if they have allegiance to a foreign power.
Hinch is now the eighth politician in recent weeks facing High Court referral regarding dual citizenship status. He has stressed that he is not a US citizen.
