Careful… The New iPhone Update Could Result In You Losing All Your Data

Apple has a new update, iOS 10.3, which promises to add a host of new updates and features.

There is one drawback though, if you don’t back up your photos, videos and data before upgrading there is a chance you may lose it forever.

It’s a result of Apple’s decision to introduce a new file system called the Apple File System (AFS) in place of it’s current systems known as the HFS+ which has been in place for since 1998.

The conversion is automatic as part of the iPhone update and in an ideal world will be a smooth process.

If however there is a problem in the update process your files will no longer be compatible with your phone and will be inaccessible.

It sounds like a risky process, but Apple is backing the new file system to be a massive improvement on its 29 year old predecessor.

They say the new update will allow for stronger encryption, more accurate time stamps and optimisation for solid state storage, and just be all around better suited to todays computing needs.
