A brave British police officer who tried stopping the three London Bridge terrorists charged at the men with just his baton despite being repeatedly stabbed and temporarily blinded.
Three men rammed a hired van into pedestrians on the bridge late on June 3 before launching a rampage through the busy Borough Market area, killing eight including two Australians.
Police Constable Wayne Marques told Reuters he heard screams coming from London Bridge before confronting the attackers.
"I take a deep breath and I charge in," he said.
"I try to take the first one out in one go, I swing as hard as I can, everything behind it, aiming straight for his head.
"I still managed to get a good hit on him. I heard him yelp in pain."
Mr Marques estimates he spent 90 seconds fighting the three men, before armed officers arrived within eight minutes and shot dead the three attackers.
