Tasmania Police have confirmed the 21-year-old man critically injured in a single vehicle crash at Huonville last weekend has died.
The single vehicle crash occurred on the Huon Highway near the Huonville town boundary on the northern approach at around 7.30 pm on Saturday the 13th of January 2018.
Due to the serious nature of the crash police were forced to close the road for the safety of emergency serviced personnel in attendance and to allow a detailed examination of the crash scene to occur.
The three male occupants were conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment with one passenger, with the 21 year old man from Lucaston, listed in a critical condition.
Police then appealed to witnesses who may have seen a Maroon coloured Subaru Outback Station Wagon on the Huon Hwy or Lucaston Grove area around on the Saturday night.
A 30-year-old Lucaston man was later charged with
- Negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm
- Drive under the influence of intoxicating liquor and a drug
- Drive without due care and attention
- Drive while not the holder of a driver licence.
The man appeared before the Hobart Magistrates Court and was detained to re-appear on 6 February 2018.
